State Attorney Ed Brodsky announced today that Albert Wilcox was convicted after jury trial of Murder In The Second Degree With A Firearm. The crime was committed on 02/26/2022 and investigated by the Bradenton Police Department and the Manatee County Sheriff’S Office. The trial was held at the Manatee County Courthouse from 2/10/25 to 2/12/25. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Suzanne O’Donnell and Rebecca Freel. The defendant was sentenced to Life in prison without the possibility of parole.
On the night of the homicide the defendant was displaying aggressive behavior, firing a gun into the air, and arguing with his girlfriend’s mother, the deceased victim Sherline White. During this argument, the defendant pointed his gun at Ms. White while she sat in the driver’s seat of her car preparing to leave. He fired 8 times and struck her 5 times killing her instantly.
The lead prosecutor in the case, Assistant State Attorney Suzanne O’Donnell commented, “Due to the excellent work of the Bradenton Police Department and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the defendant was quickly apprehended after fleeing to Glades County, and he confessed to the crime. This was a senseless crime that should not have happened and now Ms. White’s family must bear the pain of her loss. Hopefully this life sentence will provide some comfort to them.”
